No one looks forward to cleaning, so we've found some super shortcuts to make your apartment shine with less time and effort this fall.

In the kitchen

Cut down cleaning time by always wiping counters after use and by cleaning as you cook. Stove tops can get hot and easily bake in spills. Instead of tiresome scrubbing, soak a cloth in hot soapy water, then lay over the dried spill to loosen and wipe the mess away. You can clean off stuck food in your microwave using just vinegar and steam.

In the bathroom

If you clean your bathroom a little bit each day, there will be less to deal with at once. Using a microfiber cloth daily will help you pick up dirt and germs on contact without cleansers. Tackle soap scum before it builds up by using a squeegee after each shower. Save time by cleaning your shower while you're in it by keeping a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser in the shower to use a few times a week.

In the living areas

Cut cleaning time in half by regularly clearing clutter from your living spaces. With any room, it's best to work from the top down and from the farthest corner out, leaving the vacuuming or mopping until the end. After cleaning miniblinds or verticals, wipe each pane with a dryer sheet to help the surface repel dust. Easily freshen carpets by sprinkling baking soda over the surface, waiting at least 30 minutes, then vacuuming as usual.

The cooler temperatures in fall makes for an opportune time for deep cleaning. Instead of spending the whole day cleaning, focus only on the areas of your apartment that don't get cleaned frequently and return to your regular cleaning schedule when done.
