Spring is finally on its way!

Spring – When the world is mud-luscious and puddle-wonderful. ~ e. e. cummings

Longer days are approaching, that fresh warm breeze is on its way. It is finally time to evict the winter blahs from your apartment and welcome in Spring freshness!

Park Property Management Inc. embraces Spring with a few helpful tips on how to brighten your living space.

Start with a good deep cleaning.

Spring is a great time to clean all the forgotten areas of your home:

  • Clean appliances inside, outside, and underneath! Make sure to also clean the vents on your fridge for optimal performance.

  • Dust ceiling fans and reverse their spin.

  • Clean your windows and if possible the screens. Freshly washed windows will shine when polished with a clean chalkboard brush.

  • Vacuum everywhere! Sprinkle some baking soda on your carpets, furniture, and mattresses. Leave for at least 30 minutes, and then vacuum everywhere to freshen your living space!

Now, it's time to bring in some freshness!

Visit your local greenhouse and pick up Tulips, Daffodils, or Hyacinths. Bulbs are an excellent choice because their colourful blooms smell great and they can be replanted to enjoy year after year. If you don't have a garden you can grow them in a pot on a balcony.

Don't want to mess with soil? No problem, you can plant your bulbs in a clear vase instead. All you need is a vase, some marbles or soft pebbles, and water. Just follow these simple steps:

  • Place the marbles or pebbles in a clear vase.

  • Put your blub on top with the pointed end facing up.

  • Add water to just below the base of the blub.

  • Sit vase in a window or somewhere that will get the most natural light (six hours a day is optimal).

Tip: Don't add too much water! If your bulb is submerged in water it will rot. When growing bulbs without soil, they will not bloom again in future years so, compost the bulbs when blooming has finished.

Here are a few other ideas to help you bring Spring indoors:

  • Add a few colourful throw pillows to your seating area.

  • Hang some pastel paintings or colourful photographs.

  • Remove heavy or dark curtains to allow more sunlight in. If you still need coverage, try sheer curtains or just purchase curtains in bright colours.
