It's important to remember as a tenant you have certain rights and responsibilities.

Park Property Management Inc. wants all residents to know their rights so you can feel secure where you live. Renters who are aware of their basic rights are more confident and find it easier to address issues when/if they arise.

The basic tenant rights that you should be aware of are:

  1. Your Right to security of tenancy
  2. Your Right to live in a safe environment
  3. Your Right to privacy
  4. Your Right to vital services (Heat, hot and cold water, electricity, etc.)
  5. Your Right to live with children in the home

These rights have been put in place to protect your way of life and ensure you have a safe environment to live in.

Be aware of your specific rights and the rights of your landlord by reading the Residential Tenant Act. If you are unsure of what it all means, there is a guide that can help you with the basics. Additionally, the Social Justice Tribunals Ontario website has specific information including maintenance, rental increases, and how to end a tenancy.

Living in an apartment also comes with some specific responsibilities. Did you know you are responsible for repairing damage to your apartment caused by your guests or yourself? View more tenant responsibilities.

Even if you don't understand the legal documents, it is important for you to know where you can get help when you need it. Park Property Management Inc. has friendly and helpful property managers for each of our residential buildings. If you have any questions, please contact your building's property manager.
