The world is now open after being isolated for a couple of years and missing out on a few summers; it's time to get tanned. While Toronto's winters are cold and snowy, the city also experiences a warm and sunny summer. And now that summer is just about here, it's time to bust out your sunnies, bathing suits and sunblock! Being immersed in nature and enjoying outdoor activities will help us grow and heal from the past couple of years of isolation.

Torontonians love summers, so stay hydrated, eat lots of fruits and have a refreshing smoothie to fuel your outdoor summer adventures.

Toronto Islands

Take a scenic ride on the ferry to the Toronto Islands at the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal. You can cycle around the islands with friends, bask in the sun, or go paddleboarding. On the Toronto Islands, there is so much to see and do, and the cruise itself is a delightful experience offering breathtaking panoramic views. You can also make it into a weekend trip and spend the night in a bed & breakfast on the islands. So don't skip out on building some memories by the sea this summer.

Have a park picnic

There are many lovely parks in Toronto, and a picnic is a fantastic way to enjoy the beauty and peace they offer. Walking barefoot on the grass, even for 10 minutes, can be very grounding. So grab some snacks, a bottle of wine and maybe your favourite book and head to one of the city's numerous parks.

High Park and Trinity Bellwoods are two of the most picturesque parks in Toronto, and they're also two of the greatest sites to watch cherry blossoms. In Toronto, this typically occurs in May, around the spring season. However, with its charming pink chairs, Sugar Beach is also a terrific site to visit in Toronto during the summer.

Evergreen Brickworks

This industrial zone offers year-round enjoyment to city dwellers. Enjoy a mix of outdoor and indoor activities in Toronto this summer. Evergreen brings together the community through ecologically and culturally conscious programmes. While there, you can explore the outdoor park space and stroll around the local farmer's market in the former industrial building.

Hiking and camping

The best part of living in Toronto is that you're always an arm's reach from the mountains. There are several hiking trails around Toronto; you can take your pick based on your level: beginner, intermediate and advanced. You can stop to enjoy some of the fantastic waterfalls or scenic views along the trail. You can also spend a few days camping with your friends and family in the mountains.

Scarborough Bluffs

Toronto is fortunate to have such a magnificent bluff so nearby. The adjacent park and beach provide an excellent vantage point giving you a gorgeous panoramic view. An afternoon spent on the beach or at a yacht club, surrounded by greenery, is a beautiful escape from the hustle of city life.

Along with all the adventure, take a minute to relax your thoughts and connect with the people around you. This summer, make it a habit to enjoy the outdoors. It is a great way to be immersed in nature and keep your health and mind in check.
