Mindful Meditation is a practice that allows us to be aware of our activities, thoughts, and feelings throughout the day.

With a long winter finally behind us and busy summer plans ahead, it's important to take ample time to tend to our own well being! De-stressing and finding ways to relax is important for your health and your family's health.

As practicing Yoga is a part of many of our resident's lives, we know that meditation can be an important aspect of daily life and how vital it is to find the time and space in your own home to practice.  Finding private space in an apartment can be tough though, especially if you have a roommate or children!

Park Property Management Ltd. has a few ideas that can help you find inner peace in your apartment.

Create your Space

You don't need anything special to meditate or practice mindfulness; however, creating a meditation space in your apartment can be a reminder to take the time for yourself. A mediation space should be an area you can sit comfortably, away from distractions. That could be on your balcony, in the corner of your living room, or in your bedroom.

Set this space apart from the rest of your apartment when getting ready to meditate. Even though decorations are not necessary, it will help establish that space and it's purpose. Simple additions like soft blankets or pillows to sit on and a small table decorated with flameless candles and flowers, are easy to store when not in use.

When you are ready to meditate, remind those living with you that you need some uninterrupted time to focus and relax.

Relax Your Body and Mind

Sit in your meditation space and take in the sounds. Can you hear the wind, birds chirping, or cars on the street? Focusing on one of those sounds can help quiet your overworked mind. Calming music and therapeutic scents can also help your mind relax.

To start meditating, sit comfortable and close your eyes. Use a sound, scent, or your own breathing to help you stay still. When you are new to mediation, focusing on your breathing and counting your breaths from 1 to 10, and back again, is a simple technique that will quiet the mind and promote stillness.

Mediating in your apartment first thing in the morning, during times of stress, or after a long day at work will help you relax and find peace. When you practice mindful mediation daily, you can lower your stress, reduce anxiety, increase your self-confidence, and improve your mood!
